One of my favorite reads of the year thus far has been Kala by Colin Walsh. This is a mystery/thriller set in Ireland. This book is full of vivid descriptions that transport the reader to the heart of the novel. One of the reasons this sticks out to me more than any other mystery/thriller is that a coming of age story is also found within the text. Nostalgia is woven through the pages. The characters are dynamic and readers will go on an emotional journey when joining this friend group.
