Anna Moore's Music Recommendation:
Tradition
EP by Monsune
The first single I heard from Monsune, the pseudonym of songwriter and producer Scott Zhang, was “Outta My Mind,” a catchy soul/pop song about an obsessive crush. I immediately developed my own crush on the song and listened to it every day for the next few weeks. At one point I played it to try and distract my niece who was crying after being woken from a nap – she went from fractious to smiling and wiggling after the opening bars.
The whole EP is fantastic, and was the soundtrack of my life for a lot of 2021. It's chill enough for babysitting and groovy enough for dancing; emotional in all the right places, it feels like a summer afternoon.
