What Šari Dale is Listening to

Soccer Mommy is the bedroom-pop project of ridiculously talented twenty-year-old Sophie Allison; her first big studio album Clean has been an obsession of mine since its spring 2018 release. The songs, all of which Allison penned, are deliciously melodramatic. She makes ordinary hurts — break-ups and loneliness — feel like massive astrological events. I think that’s so remarkable, zooming in on an experience until it becomes microcosmic. I’ve written a number of angsty love poems while listening to “Scorpio Rising.” It’s definitely worth your thirty-five minutes.
