We're excited to announce that Marco Melfi is the winner of the 2021 Ralph Gustafson Poetry Prize! His poem “The Faulty Porch Light” will appear in the Spring 2021 issue of The Fiddlehead. We're excited to announce that Anne Marie Todkill is the winner of our 2021 Fiction Contest and $2000 prize! Her story The Makeweight Piece is featured in our Spring issue no. 291, which is available for pre-order now!
Anne Marie Todkill has published poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction in various Canadian literary magazines. Her winning entry in The Malahat Review 2016 Novella Contest was anthologized in Best Canadian Stories 2017. Her first poetry collection, Orion Sweeping (Brick Books), will appear this spring.

The Writers' Federation of New Brunswick (WFNB) and The Fiddlehead have announced the shortlisted titles for the 7th annual New Brunswick Book Awards. The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on Saturday, June 4, as part of WFNB’s annual WordSpring writing festival in Fredericton.
The program will celebrate books published in the 2021 calendar year in the poetry, fiction, nonfiction and children’s picture books categories.
