Poetry Weekend 2017 featured more than 60 poets from all over Canada, many of whom read from new or recently released collections. Two Fiddlehead team members read from newly released chapbooks: Ian LeTourneau read from Core Sample, published by Frog Hollow press, and Emily Skov-Nielson read from Volta, published by Anstruther Press. Skov-Nielsen's editor, Jim Johnstone, also read from his Véhicule Press collection The Chemical Life, which was launched in Montreal on October 20th. Other readings from new collections by UNB associated poets included Claire Kelly reading from Maunder (Palimpsest Press), Allison LaSorda reading from Stray (Goose Lane), and Kayla Geitzler reading from That Light Feeling Under Your Feet (NeWest Press, forthcoming 2018).
Over the course of the weekend, The Fiddlehead editorial assistants Noah Page and William Bonfiglio interviewed poets Patrick O’Reilly, Sarah Cooper, Adam Dickinson, Benjamin Dugdale, Kate Cayley, Kateri Lanthier, Rebecca Păpucaru, and Rebecca Salazar.

Fiddlehead Editorial Assistant Kyle Connelly sat down with acclaimed Canadian author and current University of New Brunswick writer-in-residence Joan Clark in November 2012. Their discussion moved from her early career in Alberta up to her novel-in-progress (which is set in Sussex, NB) and the state of Canadian publishing.
Joan Clark is a Member of the Order of Canada and the author of two short story collections, four novels, six novels for younger readers, and three picture books. She lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Fiddlehead Editorial Assistant Claire Kelly sat down with Canadian poet and journalist Anita Lahey to talk about her latest book of poems Spinning Side Kick (Signal Editions, 2011). Anita's poetry is equal parts playful and profound, and their conversation bounced from the fun of onomatopoeia to the foggy future of literary magazines.
Anita Lahey's previous book Out to Dry in Cape Breton (Signal Editions, 2006) was nominated for the Ottawa Book Award and the Trillium book award for poetry. Previously, she was the editor of Arc Poetry Magazine.
