Congratulations to Fiction Contest Winner Elise Thorburn!

We're excited to announce that Elise Thorburn is the winner of our 2020 Fiction Contest and $2000 prize! Her story Rubens' Salmon is featured in our Winter issue no. 286, which is available now! 

Elise Thorburn has a Ph.D. in media and technology studies. She has published in academic journals, and wrote, co-produced and hosted a podcast on the history of electronic monitoring. She is an avid reader, a medical student and a prison abolitionist. This is her first published work of fiction.

Announcing the Winner of our 2020 Creative Nonfiction Contest!

The Fiddlehead is pleased to announce that Morgan Charles is the winner of our 2020 Creative Nonfiction Contest and $2000 prize! Morgan's story Plagued  will be featured in our upcoming Fall issue no. 285.

Fiddlehead Contributor Longlisted for Journey Prize!

We were thrilled to hear that Fiddlehead contributor David Huebert's short fiction story Chemical Valley was selected for this year's Journey Prize longlist! Congratulations David! And congratulations to all of the other longlisted authors. Thank you to the judges, the Writers' Trust, and M&S!

Congratulations, finalist Fiddlehead authors and friends!

Congratulations to all the Fiddlehead authors and friends whose work has been shortlisted for 2020 Alberta Literary Awards and the Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize, both administered by the Writers’ Guild of Alberta to recognize the best literary works created or published in 2019 by Alberta and Edmonton authors.
