The Writers' Federation of New Brunswick will hold its annual WordsFall 2016 in Shediac on November 4-5. Friday evening events are at the historic Shediac Railway Station. Saturday’s professional development workshops are at the Shediac Multipurpose Centre.
Registration fee for the weekend, including all professional development sessions, lunch and coffee breaks is $85 for members and $110 for non-members. Deadline for registration is November 3rd.

Elizabeth Hay will be reading from her work this Wednesday, October 19th at 8pm in the lounge at the Alumni Memorial Building on the UNB campus. The event is free to the public and all are welcome to attend.
Her most recent novel, His Whole Life, is a coming-of-age story about a 10-year-old boy named Jim whose family is travelling from New York to Eastern Ontario. With a Canadian mother and an American father, Jim must navigate the conflicts that arise when family, country and nature are at odds. His Whole Life is a finalist for the 2016 Ottawa Book Awards.

Fredericton's odd sundays reading series opens its second season this Sunday, October 16, at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St. Fredericton at 2 P.M. The featured readers will be Jane Tims and Harris Sullivan.

The Fiddlehead is pleased to announce the judges for our 26th annual literary contest! Rabindranath Maharaj, this year's UNB Writer-in-Residence, is our fiction judge. And judging our poetry category are Liz Howard, winner of the 2016 Griffin Prize; Richard Kelly Kemick, the author of Caribou Run; and Soraya Peerbye, winner of 2015 Trillium Book Award for Poetry. Internationally acclaimed author Camilla Gibb will be reading from her work this Thursday, October 13th at 8pm in the lounge at the Alumni Memorial Building on the UNB campus. In her most recent work, the memoir This is Happy, Gibbs confronts the broken relationships, broken family, and broken people of her past, transforming her grief into a new kind of happiness of her own making.

The University of New Brunswick invites you to our 13th annual Poetry Weekend, a celebration of Canadian poetry that features seasoned and new poets alike!
Join us on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd at UNB Fredericton’s Memorial Hall for a series of readings by Canadian poets and authors. Readings take place at 11am, 2pm, and 8pm both days.
Fredericton poet M. Travis Lane will be our presiding spirit for Poetry Weekend, and is set to have her new collection of poetry entitled The Witch of the Inner Wood release just in time for the festivities.

As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, the UNB Art Centre is presenting an exhibit examining the relationship between the Art Centre and The Fiddlehead called The Next Chapter: 70+ Years of The Fiddlehead . From its inception TheF iddlehead magazines featured covers designed by the UNB Art Centre’s own Lucy Jarvis. In the 1960s Editor Kent Thompson began to feature the artwork of Marjory Donaldson and Bruno Bobak.
