On Dec. 17th, odd sundays will offer an opportunity for you to read your favourite seasonal celebratory works. The final odd sundays of 2017 takes place at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St. at 2 PM; arrive from 1:30 onward to get a book draw ticket and add your name to our special open mic list.
We have asked a couple of our special guests from over the years to begin the festivities and give us all some motivation.
Join Brian Bartlett on Thursday, December 7 at 7 PM at Westminster Books (445 King St. in Fredericton NB) as he launches Branches Over Ripples: A Waterside Journal, a follow-up to his Ringing Here & There: A Nature Calendar (Fitzhenry & Whiteside, 2014), a "book of days" composed of 366 short paragraphs of nature writing, this new book published by Gaspereau Press is made of 50 long, exploratory, digressive journal entries all originally drafted outdoors by various bodies of water — rivers, brooks, lakes, ponds, marshes, waterfalls, bays.
odd sundays continues on Sunday, Dec. 3 at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St. We are pleased to have as guest readers Jean-Philippe Raîche and Jo-Anne Elder, and their work will be a combination of English, French and the translation between the two. The reading starts at 2 PM, and will be followed by an open mic set (sign up when you arrive) and a free book draw!
Corinne Wasilewski, whose interview with Alden Nowlan appears in our current Autumn 2017 issue, was a guest on CBC New Brunswick's afternoon show Shift on November 29. Listen to the interview here.
On March 5, 1983, two high-school students, Corinne Shriver (pictured on the left with Nowlan) and Carmen McKell, interviewed Alden Nowlan months before he died. We're pleased to present the audio version of the interview here. To see Corinne Schriver Wasilewski’s introduction and a transcript of the full interview verbatim, click here.
The University of New Brunswick invites you to join us for a literary reading by author Michael Kaan on Tuesday, November 21st at 7:30 pm in the Alumni Lounge, located in the Alumni Memorial Building on UNB’s Fredericton campus.
On November 19th, odd sundays, at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St., Fredericton, will welcome two poets from Maine. Michael Brown and Valerie Lawson visited odd sundays two years ago, and we expect their visit with us this time will prove once again to be enthusiastic and enjoyable. Plan to be with us on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2pm for their reading, the open set (bring something to read under 3 minutes!), and the book draw (free!).
