Salma Hussain writes prose and poetry for children and adults. She grew up in the UAE to parents from Pakistan, and moved to Canada as a teenager. Judith Pond holds an MA in German Literature from Queen’s University and an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC. She has published both literary fiction and poetry in a wide range of Canadian literary magazines, and in Oberon Press (Ottawa)’s Coming Attractions series. Her story "Accident" was featured in the Autumn 2021 issue of The Fiddlehead.

I recently read two books by Jhumpa Lahiri: In Other Words, a memoir about her decision in her mid-40s to move to Rome and immerse herself in Italian, and Whereabouts, her first novel written in Italian, published in English this spring.
